A. Hamilton (London, 1876), 97. A Second Domesday? 39 [Domesday entry:] In Caldecote Stric had 5 hides to the geld. Land for 6 ploughs. There is now 1 plough in demesne and 10 villeins and 2 bordars have 4 ploughs. There are 15 acres of underwood. In the time of King Edward it was worth £4, now £3. 4 [Hundred roll entry:] Lord William de Brus holds the manor and vill of Caldecote from Lord Robert de Brus for a third part of a knight’s fee and it belongs to the honour of Huntingdon. And the whole vill consists of 3½ hides of land, each hide of which contains 5 virgates of land and each virgate contains 25 acres.
